4 Creative Themes to Consider for Your Bedroom

When you think of one room that you can run to for rest and retreat, you’ll always have a picture of your bedroom in mind. It’s the ultimate place of comfort, a safe haven where you start and end the day.

But being a place of comfort doesn’t mean you have to be safe in your room design and decor options for the bedroom. Let your personality be your guide! Trade those pastel-colored sheets and wall for some creative themes that should up the room’s vibe and mood.

Fun and Funky

Bring out the loose, funky soul in you with fun deco pieces set on a light or colorful backdrop. Think That 70s show—put on some James Brown music, while you’re at it—and mix various textures such as faux fur and leather. Add patterns such as honeycombs for a more energized retro look.

While it’s a common designer belief that bedrooms should have a uniform, linear look, you can believe that there can be order and comfort in chaos.

Classy Black and White

Oftentimes, black is used as a secondary color in a scheme, or one of the default neutral’s to break up the intensity of strong, powerful colors. But have you considered a bedroom with a sharp black and white contrast? Sure, it may look sharp and lux—but hey, if it’s a bedroom that’s always ready to impress guests that you want, then this bedroom scheme is the way to go!

Carefully, plan out where the blacks and whites will go. Black on walls, bed sheets and furniture will add dignity and depth, while white drapes and rugs should prevent your room from turning into a black hole. Add a chandelier or two black-shaded night lamps for muted warmth.

You may soften the black and white contrast by adding an accent color such as royal gold or silver.

Bold and Beautiful

Nothing spells out ‘Edgy’ than the strong and powerful combination of black and red! The red should add spice to the room, while the black will serve as your room’s “cooler”. Because red and black are both strong colors, you’d want to add in elements to soften the combo. You may add some warmth with white-colored lamps or wooden fixtures.

Light and Lite

If your bedroom space is blessed with many windows, then maybe you should consider a theme that revolves around the use of natural light. Paint the walls white or off-white so that light would bounce off of it. This would make the room appear huge. Use deco pieces made of glass, or positioning a stylish antique mirror in a corner of the room. Finish off the look with subtle pops of pastel in color.

Perfect background for a “woke up like this” selfie, wouldn’t you agree?
